WHAT IS THE READ-A-THON?
The Read-a-thon is an annual Miraloma event that combines promoting the love of reading in our children with fundraising to ensure our school can continue to offer all of the wonderful enrichment programs we have today. Becoming a good reader is key to educational success and the Read-a-thon is a fun way to get kids involved and excited about reading.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Read-a-thon takes place over 15 days. During this time students record all minutes read whether in the classroom or at home. All reading counts!
Students also solicit pledges to support Miraloma. Pledges can be ‘per minute read’ or a flat donation. While we encourage all students to collect pledges for their reading, it is not required in order to participate in the program; however 100% of the proceeds go directly to Miraloma!! Last year we collected just over $20,000.
